One of the reasons often quoted for moving to France Profonde is 'for land' - our own garden to tend and the space to experiment with potagers and vegetables. We dream of sunny afternoons spent nurturing our crops and flowers before retiring to the terrace with a healthy glow for a well-earned apéro!

We all have shelves groaning under the weight of books advising us what to plant in shady place and how to lay out the perfect garden, but there's nothing better than a bit of local advice from people who have been here and done it. Trevor Bridge and his wife Jocelyn are just such a couple who, after running a busy landscape architect practice in the UK for 20 years, moved to an ancient fermette the region a few years ago.
