An evening with Reza Mahammad and Friends

An evening with Reza Mahammad and Friends

We are delighted to be teaming up with Reza and the Chez Cartier team to present a specially adapted version of Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte on 4, 5 & 6 August 2017.

posterWhen opera singer Nicola Beckley visited her long-time friend Warwick Hewson, a pianist and business partner of Reza Mahammad, an idea was hatched.

Why not combine Reza’s love of opera with the musical talents of Warwick and friends against the backdrop of the beautiful Charente countryside. Fast forward a few months, add more talented friends, the support of Living Magazine, and Opera at Chez Cartier is now a reality.

For three evenings only, Chez Cartier presents Così Fan Tutte. Six soloists will be supported by a ten-piece orchestra under the guidance of illustrious director John Ramster and conductor Orlando Jopling.

A unique adaptation has been scripted especially to be narrated by Reza.

On arrival at Chez Cartier, enjoy Champagne and canapés prepared by Reza before being seated for the first of the two acts. A 90-minute interval allows time to enjoy a picnic in the grounds before the sun sets and the second act begins. Throughout the evening, local cognac house Maison Bertrand will be offering a (payable) bar.

There are only 60 tickets available for each performance. Warwick explains: “We want to create a friendly and intimate evening, something truly exceptional that is also fun. We’ve been delighted that so many talented musicians have embraced the opportunity to come and experience the Charente welcome - it will be a night to remember for all our guests.”

Tickets cost 50€ per person. Doors will open at 6pm on Fri 4, Sat 5 and Sun 6 August.

Reza Mahammad

For many in France, Reza shot to fame in A Place in France, followed by Delhi Belly, Coconut Coast and the United States of Reza. He now graces our screens on Good Morning, The One Show and has presented four series on The Food Network. When not presenting, Reza teaches at his cookery school in Charente.

Outside of work, Reza leans towards the arts and has a passion for music: “I have come to realize that food and music are linked. A symphony of taste which feeds the senses is like beautiful music which nourishes the soul.”
